Holiday pay update: two-year limit for claims

by Law and Labour20 December 2014

The Government has announced the introduction of new legislation to limit holiday pay claims. The new regulations amend existing legislation on holiday pay so that employees will be barred from bringing a claim in respect of unpaid holiday pay that goes back for more than two years from the date of the claim. There is also an attempt to deter employees from taking their claims to the civil court. The new rules only apply to claims lodged at the employment tribunal on or after 1 July 2015. It is anticipated that there will now be a rush by employees to submit holiday pay claims before the two-year limit comes into effect.
